Their office or dress clothes are limited lately their dress slacks seem almost obsolete who is stocking these stores they need replacement. Where are the buyers minds JCP can be a very successful store once you take out the areas that sell the least and improve it with kitchen and home gifts they customers would buy for weddings or apartments like Walmart...blenders, coffee makers, can openers, the list goes on and on.

Re: Avoid the IKEA Visa, Unless You Love Eating Swedish Meatballs

Avoid this card like a plague. I did this mistake 2 months ago. Couldn't get the $25 promotion because of delays, and the vouchers suck. The customer service for Ikea was terrible, actually nobody ever answer. and the customer service for credit card was responsive but basically said sorry we can't help. I have the card now, but I prefer to use my other credit card to get regular 1% back that any creditcard has these days and spend it on what I want.

Re: Avoid the IKEA Visa, Unless You Love Eating Swedish Meatballs

I did that mistake today. The only reason I set foot in JC Penny now is for the Sephora store inside. I would love to see a good basics at their store or any store in the mall for that matter. I have a few pieces in my closet from The Gap that are probably 15 years old - the quality was there so I still have them. But I'd be hard pressed to find that today at Gap - or Target where I get some basics that last a season or two at most.

Re: J.C. I have been making the rounds watching videos on compound interest (CI).

It's hard to get straight. Your discussion of the positive side of CI actually describes simple interest.

Compound interest adds interest back to the principle, uses that greater number as the new principle, then compounds interest on that higher amount. Thus:

The first month is the same, $100 principle, 10¢ interest.

2nd Month: $100.10 principle, 10.001¢ interest.

At the end of the year: the balance becomes $101.206622 CI vs $101.20 with simple interest.

Not even a penny difference at this low rate of return!

Suggestion: produce a 2 minute finance video and focus on simple interest vs compound interest using different APRs. Lynx

Re: J.C. Hence, the loan applicants are expected to fax copies of the required records. Lenders of fax less payday loans, however, do not require the debtors to fax any records whatsoever. Faxless pay day providers usually verify the information by telecalling or through electronic verification.

Re: J.C. The quality is good but, I'm concerned about the availability or getting penalized for heavy usage. I stream music in my car, use the GPS a lot, and watch videos. I ultimately decided to stick with my Google smartphone but, I switched over to a prepaid plan from T-mobile that costs about $30 / month. There's a page here that shows you how to set it up https://sites.google.com/si... It's $10 more than the Republic Wireless plan but you get 5GB of data on the Tmobile network. I can still switch to WIFI when I go out to restaurants or out for coffee. But, I also know that the 3G signal will work on the road no matter how much I am using.

Re: Memo to Personal Finance Bloggers re: Suze Orman Twitter Feud & Proper Disclosure

Good advice Bobby - many of us are making money through these cards as well - so heaping a lot of condemnation on Suze isn't a good approach.

Re: Do Green Cars Save You Money?

Thanks! You are right...we could get a better picture of the total cost of ownership by just doing some due diligence before buying. And in the case of diesel cars, driving style and annual miles driven can dramatically alter the payoff, but it's still another data point consumers should look at before making a big purchase like this.

Re: Do Green Cars Save You Money?

Bobby, I love this. I have always been a bit skeptical about the economics of green cars, but 27 yr payoff is pretty long. Really we could do the same Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis on any buying choice.
